第十八站: 油麻地戲院

DESTINATION 18:  Yau Ma Tei Theatre  

油麻地戲院於1930年落成，位於九龍窩打老道6號，係市區碩果僅存的戰前戲院。

建築物保留左好多唔同既特徵元素包括：正門入口兩旁門柱、中式鈄屋頂、原有舞台的拱門等等。

Yau Ma Tei Theatre is located at 6 Waterloo Road, Kowloon. It is the only surviving pre-World War II theatre in Kowloon District which is built in 1930. Its characteristic features include the two pillars at the front entrance, the Chinese pitched roof, the original proscenium and so on.

戲院係1998年7月結束營業。為左保存、推廣和推動粵劇發展政府於2009年將油麻地戲院改建為一所專門演出戲曲和籌辦相關活動既全港性演藝場地，為粵劇新秀和新進劇團提供演出、排練和培訓設施。

Yau Ma Tei Theatre ceased operation in July 1998. For the preservation, the Yau Ma Tei Theatre has been revitalized as a territory-wide performing arts venue which is designated for promoting Chinese opera activities, in particular Cantonese opera in 2009. The venue is equipped with performing and rehearsal facilities to encourage and support the budding and upcoming Cantonese opera troupes.

為左配合各類型戲曲演出及相關活動，油麻地戲設有唔同既劇院。
There are several theatres operate in coordination for Chinese opera and related activities.

油麻地戲院入面設有一間紀念品商店，商店售賣各類戲曲用品、頭飾及中式禮品等。

There is a souvenir shop located inside the Yau Ma Tei Theatre. It offers a wide range of Chinese opera accessories, headdresses and Chinese gifts for sale.

油麻地戲院亦設有導賞服務，導賞員會帶大家參觀戲院既建築特色、了解歷史、活化工程背後的有趣發現。

There is a guided tour provide by Yau Ma Tei Theatre. A guided tour is offered to lead you through buildings’ architectural features, understanding of their history and the interesting findings behind the revitalization project.

How to go to Yau Ma Tei Theatre?
It is about a 5 minutes’ walk from the MTR Yau Ma Tei Station Exit B2, walk around 5 minutes to the destination.
